Iriver Rolls Out Its New HD PMP

When introducing new iRiver PMP, the K1 Smart HD, several heads turned not only because of its sleek design, but this is one of the few portable media player that supports files in MKV format.

Recently, iRiver has revealed how the User Interface to work the latest PMP. 3.5-inch, 480 x 320 resolution touch screen display menus similar to the traditional grid and multi-homescreen interface, very similar to the iPhone or Android phone. It also features Windows CE, which can be a turn-off for some people, but it is hard to ignore how it can support a variety of file formats, a 18-hour audio / 6-hours of video playback, and the various versions you can choose from .

Smart K1 iRiver PMP HD is only available in Korea for now, for ? 229,000 (U.S. $ 204) for the basic 8GB model. Adding DMB mobile TV tuner and you buy it for ? 279,000 ($ 248), and then the cost ? 299,000 ($ 266) if you want to have a 16GB capacity, and ? 349,000 ($ 310) for a complete package with WiFi, DMB, and 16GB storage .

Sungworld

Many tech bloggers have been speculating that the just-released Sungworld Android MID may look like an Apple iTablet. However, since the iTablet has not yet been revealed to the public, we can assume that this MID looks like a large iPod Touch.

The Android-based MID features a 7-inch touchscreen, an ARM926 CPU, 128MB of memory, 2GB of storage, WiFi connectivity, support for 1080p video, HDMI-out, and two USB ports.

Sungworld is set to release the MID at the end of January (or February) and will be available in pink, blue, green, purple, and black.

Sony Bloggie MHS-PM5 HD MP4 Camera

Capturing HD quality images and video is quite commonplace nowadays. But then, providing them in a format that can easily be used online might be another thing. Sony has recently made that easier with its Sony Bloggie HD MP4 camera.

The Sony Bloggie MHS-PM5 HD MP4 camera is capable of recording video in HD MP4 and still images in 5MP resolution. It is lightweight at just 4.5 ounces and is ultra-compact enough to carry in your pocket. What makes it quite unique is its 270 degree rotating lens system that allows users to swivel the lens for up to 270 degrees for better adjustment. It is also equipped with a 2.4 inch LCD display for easy playback.

The Sony Bloggie also has a media card slot to make image and video sharing easier. A built-in USB arm also makes it quite convenient to charge or upload its contents into your PC without the need for additional cables. It is available at Sony Style for US$170.

Palm Sized DVD Player

A portable palm sized DVD player is not a new concept by any means. But this model from Hammacher may just be giving a different look from the usual designs that you see out there. Most of such portable DVD players you see are of the flip top variety. This palm sized DVD player is designed much like the portable CD players of the past.

This palm sized DVD player from Hammacher measures six inches in diameter and can fit comfortably in your hand. It has a 3.5 inch TFT LCD screen in front and with built-in stereo speakers. This model also features anti-skip technology that allows you to watch DVD movies without any problems of skipping as what may happen on bumpy rides or when moving along. It also contains a USB port as well as slots for memory flash cards to allow viewing pictures or images from a PC or digital camera. Its rechargeable batteries can last up to two hours, enough to view one movie. It is available at Hammacher for US$150.

Big dark cloud that has hung over every CES2010 Tablet / Slate announcement continues to build on the horizon as a great gadget to show in the desert to begin to draw near. There are lots of new Apple Tablet / Slate rumors as has happened only Tablet / Slate launched the device appears.

One of the few pupils come from an article that says NYTimes : the company has “spent the last few years working on a multitouch version of iWork,” Apple’s answer to Microsoft Office software suite. This could indicate that Apple wanted a tablet into a fully functional computer, rather than the more passive devices for reading books and watching movies.

Now, this really should not come as a surprise to anyone who has followed the leaks, rumors and myths. Of smart GBM readers will remember this post from March 2008 where we reported that Apple has put up a sign looking for the following:

Are these rumors filtering and reading the tea leaves then we will see a kind of ink or the data on the Tablet creation myth? Who knows. But look this way. Steve Jobs is not stupid and he likes ecosytem controlled. If there are people who will make the creation of documents on the device, it will be the first and foremost Apple. If I had to guess, and in the next few weeks, I’ll be proven a fool or a good guesser, I would say that there is likely to be a form of movement / pen / touch input by offering to introduce a new Tablet. Will not stupid in my opinion. IWork suite scheduled to update, (which usually comes in the announcement of Apple’s MacWorld) and when all the work. But once again, we can only see a big remote control for Apple TV.

Just in time for CES, Lenovo is preparing a new smartbook called Skylight, a netbook refination the concept. Weighing less than one kilogram and the special features of their own interface to make getting online more quickly and more easily than ever before.

This little dynamo offers ten solid hours of battery life, along with some sweet technology including ARM specification 1 GHz CPU, graphics processor, integrated GPS, Bluetooth connectivity and, not surprisingly, wi-fi and mobile broadband.

Skylight will be available starting from $ 499, which already makes me look suspicious. I could buy a pretty nice laptop for that much money, if they really think that extended battery life will make a big difference? And as for “custom interface”, my current laptop is connected to the Internet quite well, and it was just an old Dell Latitude. Sure, we all want to like the concept of streaming media into new forms of delivery of movies, too, but I do not see any provision to play your old DVDs on the Skylight.

Forgive me if I find myself smartbook not convinced that this will be the next big thing when he did not have the flexibility of choice. It all looks like from here is a castrated laptop.
