Of course I had the really bad portable CD player, the one that whenever you hit a bump it made the song skip. Now if you own a car that doesn’t have a CD player, you can still use that old tape deck for good. Just plug in the iDeck and instead of tapes you’ll be listening to your iPod as you go down the road. Luckily unlike the very old portable CD players you won’t have to worry about your driving causing the music to skip.

I’d say that this isn’t likely to get picked up by a whole lot of iPod users, since surely they’d have a better stereo in their car that wouldn’t require this. However, my 1999 vehicle has only a tape deck, the thing doesn’t even have a CD player, so I understand the need. If you want to pick up one it’ll cost you $39.99 through Amazon.

I’ve found that once they learn to walk and talk, they start doing things that are impressive to them but mundane to us. For example, standing on one foot.

Sure, we humans can probably stand on the left or right leg interchangeably without even thinking about it, so you might not think it too impressive that we have a robot that can do the same thing.

This is AIST bipedal humanoid robot, the HRP-2 Promet, which can do just that. Now, I’m sure it can do other things, like walk or talk, but generally, I have noticed that robots these days can usually do one thing. That or something that it can do very well, like figure out how to hold things.

I suppose it is a matter of time before someone takes all the concept robots that can do one thing and just merges them into one superior robot that can do just about everything that we humans can do.

Yeah, we are getting into science fiction territory with that one, but if we ever have that robot in real life, we can look back to his day and say “it all began when the HRP-2 Promet stood on one foot”.

This stylus could be one of the biggest around. That’s right, that is what you are seeing here, a stylus for the Nintendo DS, not a flashlight.

However, what you are seeing is true about the projection of Buzz Lightyear on the wall. I’m sure this is a definite tie-in with the release of Toy Story 3, which I believe is sometime in June. I’ve seen the preview, and this is the one where Buzz goes back to his “I actually think I’m the real Buzz Lightyear”, but he is in Spanish. Just watch it if you don’t believe me.

You should be able to get this projector stylus for the low price of $7. That seems pretty low, and I hope that it is well constructed, as it reminds me of those electric spinning lollipops that you can find at grocery checkout counters. I always thought those were pretty useless. I mean, seriously, you suck up the lollipop, and then what can you use the spinning thing for afterward?

Okay, I haven’t really used the DS Lite much, and I have no idea if having a bigger or heavier stylus is going to affect your game or not. If you have any thoughts on this, feel free to leave a comment

As someone who has a lot of log time pushing a baby or two around in a stroller, I could use something to make it easier.

I guess the worry is that having an adult parent scoot their baby about brings up a lot of safety issues. I suppose that is why this is a concept for now.

I mean, they have those streamlined strollers with the three wheels that go along with the fluid motion of a bicycle. Why not combine a baby stroller, which usually are with clunky big wheels, into something like a skateboard?

Well, I suppose that could make the Roller Buggy hard to stop, and then it could roll out in traffic, and I don’t want to think about that. It could make it easy for someone to travel downhill, and it does come with brakes. Of course, you don’t want to be going too fast, or you could just flip over.

Something tells me that it there will be a lot of safety concerns that will have to be raised before the Roller Buggy ever makes it to the market. So don’t expect to see it at the next baby shower anytime soon.

If you liked the old iMac monitors then you’ll love this speaker stand. It looks a whole lot like the stand those monitors used to sit on. It’s a quirky design and in some ways a little bit unnecessary, but if you’re a little nostalgic about your iMac then it’s a good way to keep it on your mind. Plus it plays your music out loud.

This does come through Chinavasion, which always makes me at least pause to wonder how great the quality is on the devices they sell. They are a great way to get gadgets that those of us in the US might not have normally been able to purchase though. The docking station has a 12W audio output and can accommodate either an iPod or an iPhone. You can purchase it for $41.07.

You’re probably thinking that: “Oh no, it is a Star Wars/Terminator/Matrix/Battlestar Galactica/any other science fiction franchise robot that is designed to take out enemies. Are the humans its next target?”

Actually, from what I have been reading from my sources, this robot, also known as “Pincher” is designed to disable Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from a long distance. It apparently uses rockets the size of pencils to destroy the explosive charges, which will make them burn, not explode in a process known as “deflageration”.

I’m guess that it does this via remote control with a video camera and laser pointer. Then it uses “pyrophoric” rockets for its job.

In other words, this is not designed to be a weapon. Sure, I suppose that you could reprogram the thing so its pyrophoric pencil-sized rockets could be targeted at us fleshy mortals, but you can always use something technological to hurt someone. Heck, you can do that with a dang brick.

In a way, the Pincher is unique as it is designed to disable weapons, not shoot weapons. It is designed by Israeli roboticists, and I don’t have any word about when it would be used on the battlefield.

I remember back in 1987, I had a chance to go on Star Tours at Disneyland. I had to wait almost two hours, and it was quite an experience.

I would imagine that after twenty years, the effects of Star Tours would look pretty mediocre in the era of CG effects.

It would appear that Disney feels the same way as they are planning on giving Star Tours an update.

This means that Star Tours is going to be temporarily shut down. The one in Disneyland will shut down on July 27th, and the one in Disneyworld will begin its end on September 8th.

Disney has shared that by the time the ride will be rebuilt in May 2011, it will have a 3D screen. I have no idea if the users will have to wear glasses, as I know that we have the technology to make glasses free 3D, especially if it is the same clip played every time.

I also heard that it will feature…podracing? Oh no, we are getting into Star Wars prequel territory here.

I remember when I visited Star Tours, there was a droid that was the host and pilot of the thing. I found out later that it was Pee-Wee Herman doing the voice. I sort of hope they get rid of him this time. Maybe they just replaced him with Jar Jar Binks.

Oh please, no!

Just what makes a phone “super” in the first place, you ask? Well, HTC’s EVO 4G fits the bill perfectly – after all, it is the first 4G smartphone in North America, and the good folks over at RadioShack are more than willing to roll out one of these puppies to you, where it will remain a Sprint-exclusive device at the moment.

RadioShack customers who are interested will be able to place a pre-order of this exciting new device at any one of more than 4,000 RadioShack stores from May 14th onwards, so if you haven’t done so already, what’s keeping you? After all, it offers far superior hardware compared to the Google Nexus One which was dubbed a superphone by the Big G themselves, so why not check out the hardware specifications right after the jump before taking the plunge?

If you are interested in placing a pre-order, you can do so by picking up a $50 RadioShack gift card that can be applied toward the purchase price of the device, while scheduling an appointment to pick up and activate the device. The HTC EVO 4G is ready to hit participating stores throughout North America from June 4th onwards. With its obvious 4G name penciled in, this means you can now take advantage of incredibly fast downloads on 4G networks where available, not to mention a slew of hardware specifications that will definitely get the geek in you super excited :-

* A 4.3-inch touch screen that’s one of the largest in the industry, ideal for viewing movies and other rich content
* An 8.0-megapixel camera on the back for capturing HD video
* Mobile hotspot functionality that allows up to eight WiFi-enabled devices to connect simultaneously to the Internet
* The increasingly popular Android 2.1 operating system for mobile devices
* A blazing-fast 1-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor for smooth and agile mobile multimedia experiences

Before you pick it up however, you can further enhance your first-hand engagement at select RadioShack stores nationwide that are deemed to be “HTC EVO 4G experience centers,” which specially trained experts will demonstrate features and benefits on a live HTC EVO 4G handset. Guess this goes down well with Google’s assertion that it will stop selling its Nexus One online anymore simply because the average Joe still prefers to touch and “fondle” their smartphone(s) before coming to a justifiable purchase decision. Are you looking forward to the EVO 4G?

This is a product on the same vein, also inspired by The Empire Strikes Back. It is a backpack with C-3PO in it. It is just like the scene where Threepio is blasted to bits, and has to spend most of the rest of film in a backpack on Chewbacca’s back.

In this case, this is a hollowed out C-3PO that you can store stuff in. For example, you can shove an iPad in there.

This is a licensed Lucasfilm collectable, but in this post Star Wars age, what cheezy piece of merchandise isn’t these days?

You will note how you can take C-3PO out, and I am assuming put him together without the Wookee or droid.

Is it just me, or does this remind me of a blow-up doll. Perhaps an ugly blow up doll. Perhaps if the lady who was given the golden skin makeover in GoldFinger was an ugly blow-up doll, this would be it.

Well, you should be able to get this on the ThinkGeek website here for a price of about $59.99.
