This is from designer Marc Graells Ballve, and, as you may have guessed, it is some anti-theft device for scooters.

Clearly, the designer gets his inspiration from nature with the armadillo as the armor can retract like that animal’s armor.

I have no idea how heavy this armor is, but it looks pretty light, almost like plastic. I’m guessing that it requires some sort of lock at the bottom so the shell is secure. Read the rest of this entry »

Image and video hosting by TinyPicThis is a concept device by Dieter Amick, and it is designed to make finding lost people a whole lot easier.

It is named “SixthSense for Search and Rescue”, and it is designed to be a computer that you wear on the front of you.

It isn’t exactly something that looks plausible with today’s technology, because the screen looks like it pulls out like a reverse window blind. Granted, I’ve heard of flexible displays before, and I suppose that the company that makes it cheap to mass-produce and affordable will probably be the next big tech company, and will make billions. Somehow I doubt there are a whole lot of people that don’t do that morning stretch. It loosens up all of those muscles after a full night of a very small amount of movement. Well this clock actually uses your morning stretch to shut off the alarm. Which is a whole lot better than stretching while you have to listen to beeping or slamming on the clock and then stretching afterward.

There are arms inside of the pillow, in order to make the alarm stop you have to pull on those arms in the same way you’d usually stretch yourself out. There is both a child and an adult version of this. Concealed just inside the edge of the pillow is a small clock to show you the time. That means you don’t need a nightstand with a way too bright clock and you can sleep in peace. Unfortunately this is just a design so far, but perhaps Seung-hee Ryu’s design will get picked up by one of the many alarm clock obsessed manufacturers.

The Flow Interactive Music System is officially my new favorite concept design. It’s not because it has the best looks out there, although it does look pretty cool. It’s actually because it’s made to help you keep your music to match your mood. When you’re ready to party no one wants to hear a slow song, so this speaker system using your own movements will set it on party mode. That’s not the only mood it has available though.

To change the mood is has accelerometers and gesture control sensors. It has 3 different types of shakes to go along with the moods. When you want to relax, just gently move it up and down. For work tunes you shake it a little harder and then to party you give it a very vigorous shake. The spheres themselves are what need the shaking. Then to control the volume just turn the speaker upside down.
